Live inventory, and the savings it proves

The problem

Live material inventory lived in a spreadsheet whose allocator was subtly wrong: it capped a draw at two receipt layers, left stale cost on empty rows, consumed stock in row order instead of by receipt date, and had no answer for overselling. The result was numbers nobody could fully trust.

The idea

Put a real, tested engine at the center. Every issue to a job draws from the oldest receipts by date, and savings are counted honestly: what buying per job would have cost, minus what the bulk stock actually cost, tax-adjusted, on only the units truly drawn.

What I built

• A pure first-in-first-out and savings engine, proven line by line against the old sheet.
• Receive, issue-to-job, and returns flows built mobile-first for the warehouse floor.
• QR labels a warehouse worker scans to issue material to a job in seconds.
• An admin catalog, pricing, and a dashboard that turns bulk buying into a number you can trust.

Impact

• Replaced a swivel-chair, paper-passing process with one clean app that works on the desktop and on the warehouse floor.
• Simple enough that the team actually adopted it, which is where the accuracy came from.
• Turned a needlessly complex inventory process into a few clear taps, with bulk-buy savings you can stand behind.
